NFSA Texas & FSCATX Joint Meeting: Construction Fires & NFPA 241

Residential multifamily construction has been on the rise since 2011.  During this time frame we have experienced significant construction fires in large wood frame buildings.  This presentation will review the recent NFPA Research Report detailing construction fire statistics including occupancy type, leading cause, and month/time of day.  We will follow the regulatory matrix and highlight the requirements for sprinkler and standpipe systems in buildings under construction.   NFSA has worked this year on the 2022 edition of NFPA 241, The Standard for Safeguarding Construction, Alteration, and Demolition Operations.  We will highlight several concerns from our members and the proposed changes associated with using temporary sprinkler and standpipe systems during construction.
